Every product starts with a small, stubborn wish. Ours was simple: make NEPSE easy to learn and easy to keep track of — for a generation that does almost everything on its phone. This is the friendly, behind-the-scenes story of how ShareRocketPro came together: the idea, what “modern” meant to us, the pieces we built, and the tiny details we fussed over.
The idea: learning shouldn’t cost your savings
Lots of young Nepalis are curious about the share market. They hear friends talk about IPOs, see the NEPSE index on the news, and want in. But the first steps are confusing — kitta, WACC, circuits, T+2 — and the usual way to learn is the expensive one: open a demat account, buy something, and lose real money finding out how it all works.
So Share Rocket Pro set a clear goal. One place where you can practise without risk, read the real market honestly, learn in Nepali, and keep track of the shares you actually own. Friendly on day one. Still useful years later.
What “modern” meant to us
“Modern” is an easy word to throw around, so we pinned it down to four things we could check every day:
- Calm, confident design. A dark-first look with one bright accent, big clear numbers and nothing shouting at you — plus a light mode for daytime.
- Smooth, not flashy. Screens that respond the moment you tap, prices that update in place, and gentle motion that steps aside when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Nepali-first. Lessons, quizzes and alerts in Nepali, with English right beside them. Kitta, not “lots”. Nepal time, not someone else’s clock.
- Phone first. Everything designed from a 320px phone screen upward, then stretched to tablets, laptops and big monitors without breaking.
The building blocks
Here is what actually got built — every piece is part of the product today.
A practice market that never sleeps
Every NEPSE scrip is copied into a practice market. Each practice price starts from the real NEPSE price and then moves realistically inside the ±10% daily circuit. It is open 24/7, so you can practise after work, after class or at midnight. Practice prices are clearly labelled and are never official quotes — and no real money is ever at risk.
The real market, clearly labelled
Alongside the practice market sit views of real NEPSE data: a sector heatmap, NEPSE Live with the index and market breadth, and a full technical chart with 25+ indicators (RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, Ichimoku and more) and 10 drawing tools, including Fibonacci retracement. Real data is view-only — you read it, you don’t trade on it.
PMS: your real shares, properly counted
Once people own real shares, the questions change: what did this really cost, and what would I keep if I sold? The portfolio tracker (PMS) values the holdings you record at real NEPSE prices, with WACC including fees, a capital gains tax estimate worked out first-in-first-out, MeroShare CSV import and price alerts on real prices. Share Rocket Pro’s team also uses it to look after managed portfolios for clients who have a written agreement.
Learning written for here
The app carries 57 courses and 117 lessons, from “what is a kitta?” to reading a chart, with quizzes to check what stuck. Nepali comes first; English sits alongside for anyone who prefers it.
Alerts in your language
Push notifications arrive in Nepali and English and can carry an image card, so a stop-loss or a new lesson reads at a glance.
Sign up with just a phone
Name, phone number and a password. An SMS code confirms the number is yours. No email, demat or KYC is needed to start practising.
A careful back office
Behind the scenes, Share Rocket Pro’s team runs the platform from an admin console called Control Hub. Each staff member gets only the permissions their role needs, and important actions are written to an audit trail.
Our own design system
ShareRocketPro has its own look: Rocket Black and Launch Orange, Inter for words and JetBrains Mono for numbers so price columns line up. One set of components is shared across the website, the web portal and the apps, in dark and light. Orange is only ever an accent; green and red only ever mean a price went up or down.
Web today, phones next
The web portal is live at trade.sharerockets.com. The Android and iPhone apps are coming soon — same account, same progress.
The details we sweated
Nobody notices these when they are right. That is the point.
- Every screen size. Pages are checked from a 320px phone to a 2560px monitor — no sideways scrolling, no squashed tables.
- Accessibility by habit. A skip link, visible keyboard focus, thumb-sized buttons on phones, and motion that respects your reduced-motion setting.
- Dark and light. Every colour comes from one set of theme tokens, so both modes feel finished.
- Two languages. Key pages exist in English and Nepali, side by side.
- Honest labels. PRACTICE and REAL NEPSE tags wherever it matters. Practice prices are never passed off as official quotes, and practice money is never passed off as cash.
- Easy to find. Clear page titles, structured data and a sitemap, so people searching for NEPSE help can find the free tools.
Credit where it’s due
ShareRocketPro is owned and operated by Share Rocket Pro Pvt. Ltd. It was designed and built — and runs on infrastructure provided — by our technology & infrastructure partner, Lacspace. They helped turn a simple wish into something that feels modern, smooth and at home on a phone, and they sweated the small things right alongside us. Thank you.
And thank you to every learner who has sent feedback. Keep it coming — it is how the next version gets better. If you want the visual version of this story, see how ShareRocketPro was made (also in Nepali).
